Google Voice Search App, Now Live

The new Google App is available in the App store. The new update included a new look, easy access to apps and best of all voice search.

Having used the app, i noticed it is fairly easy to use and pretty quick to use. Time will tell if this becomes a really handy feature or not.

Advertisements Take Over the App Store

If you have used the App store recently, you might have noticed a new increase in advertising apps. What exactly are advertising apps? Well, essentially they are apps that are geared specifically towards something.

For example, the new 007: Quantum of Solace movie has an app. Singer Pink has an app, Zippo the lighter company has an app and so do numerous other artist, movies, companies.

What is the big deal? Really, there isn’t a huge deal, except for the fact that if this continues the App store could be full of advertising apps. Which would then make it harder to find good apps. Not to mention, we live in a world in which we see advertisements wherever we go. It would be nice to assume that when we turn on our iPhone and begin to look for some cool apps, that we wouldn’t run into 10 advertisement apps.

It still needs to be seen what exactly Apple will do about this. I am sure they might want a cut of some of the money they are possibly saving these companies by advertising a free app. Let’s hope they decide soon and hope that we don’t start seeing advertisements for every movie that comes out.

Google Voice Search for the iPhone

Google continues to make our lives easier with their newest feature. They have created an app that will allow users to say what they want to search and Google will then search it and have the results.

This is perfect for quick searches and just searches in general. The video below is a walk through of the application and shows just how easy it is to do. This will most likely be released shortly and we will have a full review on it.

iPhone Out Sells Razr

The iPhone recently has taken the #1 spot for most sold domestic handset. This has been long dominated by the Motorola Razr, which you can get for free practically everywhere.

This isn’t a huge surprise considering the amount of advertising and hype the iPhone has received. Although, it is still a bit surprising that such a new phone can make such great strides in a short time.

I am sure Apple has it’s eyes set on breaking even more records.

Apple App Ads

Apple recently has switched gears with their iPhone ads. Every ad recently has featured an App from the App Store.

For instance the most recent commercial features the Shazam App. Which allows you to determine what song is currently playing on the radio or wherever you are.

This is a great move by Apple, they have already made the iPhone a wanted item. Now they need to show off what it can do and why those who didn’t want it, will want it. They are doing great in choosing apps that will appeal to a wide audience and showing how quickly(sometimes not real time) and easy it is to get apps using an iPhone.

For all of the ads visit the Apple ad section.

Opera Browser For iPhone? Not Yet

There has been a great deal of talk about a possible Opera browser for the iPhone. The first rumors that circled stated that Opera had submitted an iPhone version of their browser to the App store. But the app was rejected by Apple due to it competing with Safari.

That was all speculative and now many are questioning whether it even happened. For now the fact is that there is only one internet browser for the iPhone. Will there be another in the future? We highly doubt Apple will allow it in the App store, but maybe Cydia just might have one.
