It is official, Wal-Mart, one of the largest retail chains, will soon be selling the Apple iPhone. It was first rumored that Wal-Mart would sell a 4gig iPhone for $200. That rumor is now being questioned and will most likely be false.
If this goes through, you will be able to walk into any Wal-Mart, sign a 2-year contract, and leave with an iPhone. Sounds simple, but it remains to be seen exactly how the process will work and if Wal-Mart employees will be as good as Apple’s.
The iPhone Dev Team has jailbroken the new iPhone firmware 2.2. As always, they come through and help make the iPhone even better. Below are the necessary downloads, no need to use torrents. Also quick steps on how to do it.
WARNING! DO NOT USE QUICKPWN IF YOU OWN AN IPHONE 3G AND WANT TO UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE 3G. THE NEW FIRMWARE UPDATES THE BASEBAND AND TAKES AWAY THE FUTURE ABILITY TO UNLOCK THE IPHONE 3G! INSTEAD USE PWNAGE TOOL. IF YOU OWN AN IPHONE 2G, YOU ARE FINE.
GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool.

If you have used the App store recently, you might have noticed a new increase in advertising apps. What exactly are advertising apps? Well, essentially they are apps that are geared specifically towards something.
For example, the new 007: Quantum of Solace movie has an app. Singer Pink has an app, Zippo the lighter company has an app and so do numerous other artist, movies, companies.
What is the big deal? Really, there isn’t a huge deal, except for the fact that if this continues the App store could be full of advertising apps. Which would then make it harder to find good apps. Not to mention, we live in a world in which we see advertisements wherever we go. It would be nice to assume that when we turn on our iPhone and begin to look for some cool apps, that we wouldn’t run into 10 advertisement apps.
It still needs to be seen what exactly Apple will do about this. I am sure they might want a cut of some of the money they are possibly saving these companies by advertising a free app. Let’s hope they decide soon and hope that we don’t start seeing advertisements for every movie that comes out.
Google continues to make our lives easier with their newest feature. They have created an app that will allow users to say what they want to search and Google will then search it and have the results.
This is perfect for quick searches and just searches in general. The video below is a walk through of the application and shows just how easy it is to do. This will most likely be released shortly and we will have a full review on it.
The iPhone recently has taken the #1 spot for most sold domestic handset. This has been long dominated by the Motorola Razr, which you can get for free practically everywhere.
This isn’t a huge surprise considering the amount of advertising and hype the iPhone has received. Although, it is still a bit surprising that such a new phone can make such great strides in a short time.
I am sure Apple has it’s eyes set on breaking even more records.
